In 1972, our founder, Leonard J. Hollerbach, bought a family restaurant, Country Kitchen, in Watervliet, MI. Having experience in catering he added this service to his new business venture.
As the years past, the catering aspect grew in leaps and bounds. He sold the restaurant and built a large facility strictly for catering. It has been growing and changing ever since. 50 years later we are still constantly reassessing our customer needs, retraining our employees on new concepts and trends by sending them to attend conventions, seminars, and food workshops across the country.
Our local area has become a true wedding destination with miles of beautiful beaches, rustic barns, and rolling vineyards. We have been reinventing ourselves to be up to the challenge that these unique venues provide and deserve. We are proud of our past and we are fired up about the future as we keep moving forward.
As more and more couples began choosing southwestern Michigan as an alternative to Chicago weddings, families, friends and couples began looking to Benton Harbor, South Haven, Kalamazoo and charming lakeside Harbor Country to plan their Lake Michigan-adjacent dream weddings.
We couldn’t agree more with those couples—that southwest Michigan is the perfect dream wedding destination. So, we started to focus on bringing those couples as much happiness, passion and informative service as we could muster. And, of course, amazing food and catering service.
The rest is, well, history. Year after year, we earned “Best Of,” “Bride’s Choice,” “Couple’s Choice,” and “Hall of Fame” honors from organizations like The Knot and WeddingWire. We never stopped catering for private and corporate events—those also bring us a lot of joy.
In fact, we began doing more of those as well, because when you’re passionate about remarkable food and creative menus, you want to bring that same level of excitement around hospitality to more and more people.
Our team today consists of several family members and several unofficial “family” members. We’re a close, fun group of people dedicated to the same thought: sharing incredible food together truly makes for an experience.
